A collection of frequently asked questions. Feel free to contact us should you have any questions.

Does the DCDC provide training for Laulima?

Yes, during our program and course development process we provide training on Laulima.

Can the course instructor alter the online courses made by the DCDC?

Yes. We design courses to make it easy for the instructor to change the content, even if he or she does not have any special technical skills. For additional flexibility, the instructor can choose to use only specific parts of the course, or add further resources to it – using the materials however he or she chooses.

Are DCDC services free to the University of Hawai‘i?

Since we are a self-funded UH entity, we have to charge for our services. However, we have helped several departments find ways to fund their projects and increase their revenue through highly effective yet scalable courses. Please contact us to explore options!

Why do academic programs hire DCDC rather than doing the work on their own?

While most educators excel in their subject area, they often don’t have the expertise or time to create the components of online learning that make it most effective: viable multimedia learning interactions and professional look and feel. DCDC provides the instructional design and multimedia expertise to make sure that the instructor’s subject knowledge is delivered in the online medium as powerfully and effectively as possible. Hiring DCDC to produce courses allows instructors to focus on what’s important: the content and students’ needs.

Can you design an entire course? Can you design an entire program of courses?

Yes! We are happy to work with you to meet your needs, whether that means a single course, full academic program, or a training series.

    Where do I park?

We are located in WIST Hall with metered and free street parking available along Metcalf St. and University Ave. We have a guest pass for the College of Education parking area that you can reserve 24 hours in advance if you are meeting with us. You can also find a map of the UH Manoa campus here.
